Some of my fresh water fish

Don't ask me why but I did my new tank in a spongebob theme :)
Still needs to be planted though, mainly with glossostigma and micranthemum monte carlo.
Fishes are Dario Dario.

I only have one betta, I just can't get enough of him. That's why I post so many pictures of him :)
and normally the SpongeBob tank will be housed with blue bolt shrimps but that will be for next month.
Just a shame of my new Dario dario's, it appears I have twelve male specimens. So no breeding Dario Dario for me :(

Hi Toothloose, He is a fab looking fish :)
Blue bolt shrimp looking forward to seeing photos now :D Not one i know:) Google them now ;)
Shame about the Dario Dario :( Can you not take a couple back??? And exchange them for some females;)
Edit, Is it Blue bolt / Taiwan bee shrimp Cardina cantonensis :rolleyes: Very nice

Thanks greenfinger 2 :)
Indeed, Blue Bolt/ Taiwan Bee, Caridina cantonensis. Too lazy to type full names :)
As for the Dario Dario it happens very much that only males are imported because they look very different than males.
A male only grows to a maximum of one inch and females stay smaller and are almost always completely gray with transparent fins.
But next time I go to the aquarium shop I'll check if they don't have females just to be sure but I doubt it.
So most likely no female Dario Dario for me :(

Darios are picky eaters. What do you feed them? Besides feeding them exclusively live foods I also had trouble with them jumping out of my rimless tanks.

I would consider taking some of the Dario Darion back or selling them privately (More money that way)

I have a lid on my tank so they won't be jumping out :)
I currently feed them frozen artemia, but I have to drop some in front of their nose to make sure they eat.
And I think i'll hang on to them, they're too pretty to bring back or sell :)

I certainly enjoy the fish. I do really like them and everytime I see them I am tempted to give them another try. They would be perfect in my nano! Just have to get a little lid made up. Feeding them the live stuff is just a challenge. Have you tried vinegar eels or microworms? Those are two very easy live cultures (stinky but easy). I can't remember if they took them. The problem is other fish in the tank that steal them away, if memory serves me right. Anyways, I am interested in trying them again so would like to hear how things go for you.

So far so good, they're still eating from the frozen artemia.
Other fishes can't steal food cause they're the only fishes in the tank at the moment.
And for live food, I always buy live food in the aquarium store. It's a bit more expensive but it saves me all the effort of breeding my own live food.
Sometimes I breed a few guppies as live food for my axolotls or for my reef fishes, they seem to like the taste of guppies too :)

Toothloose

Many Many years ago I use to feed my SW lion fish male guppies he would stalk it then pounce on it he preferred the males could be the bigger fins.
