The wife was referring to all the wood was it man made or a pile of wood covered in plants etc.

The first thing you do not see is power leads etc all over the place.

Cool! I had started to experiment with that back in college. Was mid-process setting up (planning to use paradise fish), when one of the saltwater tanks sprung a leak over a weekend. I had actually warned them that the seals on that tank were looking suspicious, but it took a bit too long for them to do anything about it. The prof whose office was beneath that room was not happy to find saltwater had rained all over his desk, and the university made us get rid of all the tanks as a result.

Never did get back to it again, though having plants def saved fish a time or two. Seeing what you've done with them makes me think about trying the filterless thing again at some point. Dang multi tank syndrome has finally started taking hold. Prob a good thing I don't have space for another tank right now. lol

What fish are you keeping, and do you keep a fairly small number in the tanks?

from left to right, bottom to top : 14 heterandria formosa (since the 3 that spend the summer outside did reproduce a lot), 9 hyphessobrycon amandae (lost 1), 7 corydoras pygmaeus (lost 1), 7 boraras urophthalmoides (lost 1), 8 danio margaritatus (lost 1 outside this summer), 3 p. annulatus.
I also had a betta fish too. It died after 2,5 years ; some months ago.
