That does not make sense. :)

You could had just a scape with one echinodorus, dose co2 and ferts, do water changes and manage the light properly.

Keeping one plant, or keeping two or 100 plants follows the same principle. :)

We may not see many minimalistic scapes due to taste. :)

I think that concept would be really interesting. I am all for it. I just don't have the skills yet in order to execute such a scape. Give me a few years...a minimalist scape would be quite dramatic! If you have any pics of such scapes post them so that I can include them in a new catagory. I am all for it. The more choices and information that we all have, the better our scapes will be and the more fun we can have creating them.

One Minimalistic scape I found in an Indian LFS last week and liked it.

I think most known minimalistic Scape is the IAPLC entry of Gorge Farmer in 2009.

WOW!! That is amazing! George really knows his stuff. It seems to be one of those rare Chinese lake stones used so expertly in classical Gardens for the literati. It is an ink painting. Thanks for the picture to represent the catagory. If anyone has more Pictures to offer I would be grateful. Thanks again tirtha!!

Aquascaping catagories--my pictorial take on it.

Preface:

As a beginner, I have been hoarding hundreds of pics of different styles and types of design that others have made in order to better understand this art form. These are my own oppinions on what constitutes a style/catagory of design/ model. I had to put all of the pics in seperate folders on my computor in order to keep track of them and found similarities developing so I thought that I would share. NONE of these pictures are mine...except one or two due to lack of examples by others. They are the works that I consider classic examples of their given catagory. Some of these pictures might be familiar, and some may be new, but I consider all of them to be great artists in the own rite. There are many fine works in my collection of pictures that I did not include because that would be too daunting a task. I have included a few pictures of each catagory to give examples that are representative of the catagory. I also tried to include aquariums that use the golden ratio and/or rule of thirds within their execution. Each person can make their own collection in order to choose what they want to do when the time comes to rescape. Here is my take on these ever expanding lists.
Thanks for sharing,buddy..I decide to make one but cant find.your post is great.^^

Randy 0319 - beautiful compilation my friend. This is the best, for sure. Thanks a ton for the same.
Tirtha - Nice tank there. Where did you see this one?

Hi,
good work, really nicce compilation. What do you think about the category "Perspective style" like the new amano layouts with stem plants in front and HC at the background?

Thanks folks for your kind words. Aram, sounds great. Post a picture or three of any examples that you might have to show people. The more catagories with many examples of each to showcase them- the better.

Gurami, Thank you for the great example pic! WOW! You have a great tank there! Beautifully done. I think that perspective catagory is has just had its first picture. If we can find any more please post them. Thanks again and wonderfully done tank!

My pleasure Calmseaquest.

Chidonet, Thanks for the extra pics! Some I already have in the collection but I will put the ones offered in as soon as possible. Thanks for the gracious contribution.

Keep the pics of scape styles coming!!

Hi Randy,
thank you very much for your compliments. There are some links to other perspective style layouts in my older post, too!

Just found this thread, not sure how I missed it. Amazing collection. What about Jungle or biotype? Both can be very amazing although they are not often done or talked about. Perhaps many of the above could be considered jungles.

works for me.please post pics of them or send and more catagories can be added. biotopes and jungles are great!

Finally got time to emerse myself in this thread. Great work Randy!!

I must admit I'm a fan of all the styles - anything that makes me stop and look, or conjure images of far off places wins in my book. The majority of the scapes listed are breathtakingly beautiful even if based on science fiction - who cares? Its art!

I now just need to get the Mrs to go through so she can choose the style of the next scape - she hates my iwagumi attempt. This will be a nice way to get her involved!

Thanks. If all works out well, will be adding more pictures after the IAPLC is over. There are some astounding scapes that are worth posting for future reference in catagories.
