Unique Stand Designs

Aspiring Aquascaper
I'm looking for a bit of inspiration for my next project. In particular I'm looking for a unique aquarium stand design.

Does anyone have photos of their own interesting stand designs?

I'm looking at something like this:

I believe these are known as side-boards. I'll be placing a 170L (45g) tank on top, so the side-board will need to hold 170kg (374lb) at least. I'll use a thin piece of polystyrene underneath, and make holes for hoses/CO2 etc. in the back section of the side-board. Naturally the unit will need to be perfectly level.

Does anybody else have their tank in a similar set-up? Is this going to present me with any issues?

Hunt every Opp shop in your area and you are bound to find plenty.

99% were made strong usually solid timber, but check it first.

The only concern you will have will be removing all the old and damaged finishing as it will possibly have to go back to the bare wood.

If you are intending to paint (Shock horror) even after removing all the old finishing you will still have to use a "Non Bleed" coat first.

Many thanks Keith, that's all I needed to know! I'm going slowly with the next project so I may have time to pull my finger out and rescue a nice old piece of furniture..
