That is a nice looking Aquascape and with a few tweaks I am sure it will take it to the next level.

The twiggy piece of DW looks like its pointing upwards to nothing. I would cut it off and place it in with the twiggy pieces in the main DW.

My main concern all the RH side looks too flat if it could be lifted about 10-15cm and slope it to the front RH corner it will continue the main feature shape.

Hi,

Keith I had the same thing in mind while scaping, the one which you mentioned in the photo about the slope for carpet. I had made it, not that much which you suggested. But it flattened later on. Once the carpet gets dense will trim it so that I get the required slope look.

Will see if the DW has any space for arrangements after cutting it.

I am having some brown fuss and thread like algae mostly on the carpet. Tried to remove it manually with a small syphon pipe. But comes back instantly by evening. Here are some water parameters.

PH before co2 7
PH after lights go off 5.5 - 6
KH 3
NO3 10-20
Using ADA NA Water

Here is a very good link about Algae including "Brown Algae"
It is suggested you increase your lighting a little.

What is your lighting now and times on/off please?

As allready was mentioned. This brownalgae could be caused by not enough light and/or high phosphate levels. You can suck them out and do a 50 percent water change. May i would try a filter media like phosphate ex to lower the phosphate level for a week or two.

Looks like diatoms to me, it's a natural process in the planted tank. You can continue to syphon it out, it will eventually stop growing back (1-2 weeks).
It is caused by not having enough plants to water ratio. usually you don't get them when you plant heavily.

Using lights on timer for six hours daily.

Increase to 8 hours daily. Maybe with a 1 hour break. At least you have to find the reason. As i mentioned its mostly a to high phosphate level and as BigAl777 said, it ll disapear if the plants fill in more. To support the plant growth you can remove the algae manually every time they appear or you fix the reason of the algae growth (not enough light, high phosphate level). I would remove them manually with a 50% water change, increase the light to 8 hours/daily and if they appear again same procedure with reducing the phosphate level.

As a starter I would increase the lighting a little each day until its on for 8hrs.

I should have mentioned this previously why do you have your inlet and outlet at the same end? Is there a particular reason it cannot be at the opposite end?

Hi Keith,
i Have changed the position of 2217 filter inlet - outlets to the opposite directions..lets hope it will improve the filtration... Have also increased the photo period to 8hrs now..I have attached a new photo of the algae..
