Hi Roy,
I’m following you!
You are getting something right, Firstly the planting looks great, fantastically healthy looking plants, the subject is gorgeous, that helps…

There are those that will spend hours telling you about which camera, then go into a great deal of information about settings etc, however your motto works in photography too, especially digital photography, any half decent camera can take some fantastic photos, as yet I shouldn’t really talk about aquarium photography (because I haven’t practised it either) however I have spent countless hours working macro mode, so I do have an appreciation of what is required.

Lots of light, usually the aquarium lighting should be sufficient but it’s always in the wrong place just when you need it, a steady hand or even better a tripod, and just take loads of photos check until you feel they are right and if not take some more.
Of your batch there I personally prefer 099.jpg though I feel that if you cropped it slightly tighter it gives it more.



Errm Sorry if I’m talking out of place, I know I have tons to learn and I’m miles behind you.

Hi Ian, Thank you for your kind words I use a Olympus E 450 Digital camera Still lots to learn about taking photos but getting better I take about 20 pics to get one good one
As to healthy plants its the info from this forum that has helped me to grow them to a good standard
Now all i use is tap water liquid Co2 & ferts--fert tabs a good water flow plus regular water changes Test kits have all gone in the bin Saving lots of money I just watch the plants and adjust to there needs 0. 99 jp One of my favorite pics too And your right it looks better cropped. Thanks for that

Just looking through that last batch 068 get's the thumbs up from me, well they all do, but I prefer that one. It certainly looks like Shrimp heaven. How long has that tank been up and running, I can’t wait to get to this stage with my new tank, Just so much work to be done before I even get to start, I’m really jealous. You are convincing me, I need to get my head down, get on with it, so I can get that setup started.

Hi Ian , Thank you The pics are from my Cube Started in June 2013 All ok till Aug Then Algae hair& staghorn Took hold So i triple dose liquid Co2 for about 2--3 months staghorn was easy and died back in weeks But the hair algae took a lot longer but i won the battle in the end Ho there was no shrimps in at this stage.So did a clear out and added more plants this was in November 2013 its been running well since then Looking forward to seeing your journal now No rush But one tip keep it KIS

Hi Keith, Thank you I don't know the shrimp was just walking about Its not eggs i have never seen eggs ?? With amano shrimp. I know they don't breed in fresh water

I have seen amano shrimps carrying around unfertilized eggs several times. They just never hatch in fresh water.
