Aspiring Aquascaper
Hi guys,

I was looking for history of aquascaping and I could not find much on the net. Please help me with your inputs. Need this on urgent basis as for a writeup.

thats tough, there may not be much compiled into a single source. I'm sure there are many sources on plants in aquariums. I've seen some pretty old drawings of old school aquariums with plants and fish, this could be the "birth" of aquascaping. Some thoughts of mine: Planted tanks remained relatively similar for a very long time. With electricity, globalization, CO2, etc. The hobby changed into what it is now.

yeah, can be a great work, though the modern aquascaping, read NA, is relatively new born concept, but it is changing at a rapid pace. I believe that the new rules for this years IAPLC had something to do with the rapid development. Before NA became popular, we all now that it was more about Dutch scapes, El natural styles of planted aquariums.... Came to know that NBAT was into operation in the 1930's. Found it to be extremely intriguing but the over all picture is obscure, would like to know how it all started etc.. Wish I had the bandwidth to get to the bottom of this. :D

Anyway at least this thread will be there and maybe in time we will have updates from people who will have the information when they stumble across this thread.

Green finger thanks for the effort, I appreciate it very much, though had had that link from very long ago with me ;) :D

How ever, I am glad Keith you have given me the right direction towards references...it will be one long journey if I decide to start it...let's see :)

When I was at Uni about 20+years ago you learn a lot about research especially without a computer, books only, its very often the references used will lead you to exactly what you are looking for and its never the obvious.

Glad I could help you.
