Dwarf hair grass carpet in gravel.

Has anyone had any experience in growing Dwarf hair grass in pea gravel?
How did it go? how was the carpet and how fast does the grass spread?
I setup a tank with an inch or so layer of pea gravel above aquasoil and just wanted some heads up on the things I should take care of from someone who has already done it. I know the runners would be more prone to getting uprooted if the gravel is disturbed. Anything else I should keep an eye on. I am planning on stocking it with some fairly peaceful nano fish such as CPDs, emerald raspboras, ottos, pygmy cories and shrimps. The rest of the tank will be heavily planted with CO2 and lightning at 2.5 watts per gallon.

Anyways your responses will be very much appreciated.

Thank you

I have used potted hairgrass in gravel the gravel was slightly finer than standard gravel with tropica substrate underneath but you could use root tablets. If its tissue culture if possible use soil substrate as the roots are healthy but delicate and root damage can cause issue. and a good start is vital for tc CO2 helps. A nice sand substrate should be ok but again CO2 and root tablets are needed. You have a good nutrient rich substrate but make sure your gravel is not to big

I can’t tell how fine or course my gravel is but here is a pic with the hair grass planted for size comparison.
So far I have moved some of the larger stones to the back of the tank so that its a bit more finer in the front where the hair grass is planted.
I am using the root tabs that came with the amazonia ver 2 soil and the photo period is 4.5 hours with CO2 injection.
Let me know what you think of the size of the gravel. And btw how was your carpet?

Anyways thanks for replying. Much appreciated

I think you are going to be fine. The dhg will take time to root and settle but once settled it should start spreading like a weed.
