10 Gallon Bonsai

I was inspired by the bonsai display I had seen on this site. I therefore decided to try and do something along that line , but do it in a fashion that was more towards a minature in a oval shaped layout. Something like the traditional planters you see in a terrestrial concept. So far I think it is working out. The gloss still needs to grow in on the forefront of the display. But I feel I am either missing something or dont have it balanced. i will also still need to add some more sand to cover the divider. All comments are welcomed.

I think it looks good. I love how you have used the petrafied wood with the tree. I would change the background to black or some kind of sunset look.

Looks pretty good. I don't know about everyone else, but when I look at the photo my head slightly becomes tilted like the placement of the hardscape. ;)

I love the oval layout of planting ground, but am weary of the glosso use. It doesn't seem like there's enough space for it to spread as it does. So maybe simply sticking with HC would be a better idea I think. Lastly, the bonsai tree onces grown in completely may press against the glass causing a "tight" feeling in the scape.

one thing I like about it is that it's like a diorama, like I used to make in school for a class project. The background isn't that bad, It's just not a full on nature scape that everyone goes/looks for.

nice!! personally i would use driftwood with more contour and branches..but your worked as well...

just wondering is that java moss on driftwood?

It is so, Christmas moss to be specific. I used grape vine branches. After awhile it becomes very dark brown to a black.

Hello everyone, thank you for your comments. You have given me other options of thought and I like the input. For now it will stay as is. The little show is tomorrow. After that I will make some of the recommended changes. Thanks again.

That's very creative :=D> It reminds me of a walk in the park where they have the trees cordon off & shrubbery/flowers planted at the base of the trunk. Now all that is missing is a rocky path & a bench.
