Just curious if any members entered the IAPLC this year? I did and will share my scape and progress once the results are released. Good luck to all who entered.

I'd love to see more entries from folks around here. Don't worry about being the greatest aquascaper. Enter and get some recognition for the hard work put in to making an aquascape.

Another question for members: If you didn't enter...why not?

That means you have about 11 months to perfect your tank. One word of advice read and understand all the rules of the competition.

Was just looking over the rules out of curiosity

' Entry disclosed on internet and/or magazine without consent of Aqua Design Amano Co., Ltd. shall be disqualified from this Contest.'

So does that mean if you post your entry on a forum before the results are announced the entry is void ?

What it means is the photo you submit to the contest is owned by ADA and they do not want you to share that specific photograph on a forum or website. Generally, you can share the photo after the contest results are announced and it won't be a big deal. The only ones who really have to worry are the top 100 entries...most of us other plebs need not worry as much.

So you could post other Pics off tank just not the one specific photograph 'Golden Shot' you submit.

I would love to receive a rating and/or critic but the internet has seen a lot of Ecoscape... maybe I'll just get a critic from J Art.

Not that far I was reading about the Photography Rules some found a little "Loop Hole" by posting on Forums etc with the inhabitants in a different location as they naturally swim around, I believe this has been closed.

makes sense in a way, as if you post pics others can advise on how to improve the tank so it isnt all your own work.

As far as I know its posting on forums, not sure about Facebook etc. I think you can post up to a certain point but it would always advisable to contact them first never rely on Dr Google or a friend told me.

In my opinion the loop hole is so big you fly a Jumbo Jet through it. Personal E/m would not be considered public or a group of people work together like they do in some of the big Demo tanks.

Posting a photo via Slow Mail then discussing over a phone or E/M.

if we consider the old members, the numbers mentioned by keith is quite small.
some pioneer members in this forum are still active in IAPLC altho seldom see them or they no longer
participate in ASW discussion, i still believe they are still around browsing this forum

IAPLC need only your front photo without any accessories on top or inside the tank.

asking help or opinion to other scapers or a friend is just normal if there is improvement to be done and if you feel something is wrong or missing with your entry. remember you are competing not only to yourself but to so many pro aquascaper out there..........still you own your tank scape because you started it. just appreciate the help a friend for his contribution. this tradition of asking help is just normal. we can not put aside that sometimes our mind and eyes are already tired and focus to what we have already accomplish but actually there's a lot more to be done for improvement thus we need or seek help from others. even pros are on this system. sometimes they work as group.

    just my personal opinion.

posting of entries on FB or any forums is not totally prohibited. as i've learned from our pioneer member who work with mr.T.Amano
you can show or share your entry but do it partially or as a teaser. what is totally prohibited is sharing the whole photo of you tank scape or allowing the image to be published in an advertisement, etc. not until the contest party is over especially if one's entry in on TOP 100 down to the grand prize winner.

Thank you for all that updated information for members who are considering entering in the future.

Shawn asked "Just curious if any members entered the IAPLC this year?"
I was referring to the members who are regular posters of today who have entered the 2017 competition.
