I have this piece of wood that is very, very strange looking, and I'd like to know if it's got potential!! I'm creating my first aquascape ever, and I'd like it to be tasteful! It will be a 47 gallon that is 48"x12.5"x18"

I've taken off the windelov fern, but I didn't update the picture. The wood is so big that it touches the front and back glass. I've actually rotated it so that the long branch on the right touches the sand. Please let me know if you would ever use this wood!

Alternatively, I could use this piece from my 125 gallon:

    I would love some advice!

    Here are the specs:
    lighting: 56 watts T5
    Excel only and N,P,K, csm+b

never forget that you can modify every piece of wood, make it suitable ;)
if this one above is good or not, depends on what you would like your scape to look like. so first of all you need an idea of your scape and after you go and look for nice wood and stones.

I decided to go with the 2nd piece. I'm going to try to work with it, and I'll post what I have when the water clears. I know that there isn't any planning...but I don't expect this first try to be amazing. I just want it to be a starting point! Then I'll learn a lot more and hopefully improve :)
