    Hey all,

    Awesome forum!

To those who don't know us, we are an aquascaping company and proud distributors of Borneo Wild in Australia.

To see more of us and what we do check us out at
    www.facebook.com/exoticaquatic

We are currently working on some exciting projects that will be featured soon in Australian media. However for now my wife, daughter and I are taking a much needed break to visit Paris and London.

I wonder if anyone could kindly recommend some planted hobby stores or groups I can visit during my trip? Of course happy to help out in store or events or even offer free aquascaping should anyone be looking to update their stores display.

Would be great to meet with other like minded businesses around the world in the hobby anyway share our passion for nature aquariums, paludariums, terrariums, and naturalistic displays.

You can contact us at orders@exoticaquatic.com.au, exoticaquaticaustralia@gmail.com, via any of the forums we sponsor and support, or here!

Thanking you all again for welcoming EA to your fantastic community.

    Kindest regards
    Adrian @ EA

thank you so much Jurijs, i very much apreciate it!

I believe Luis just replied on the UK based site, which was fortunate.

Ill be sure to pop in and say hi, happy to give them a hand tidying the store, scaping, or even just a chat and a coffee.

It would be such a massive shame to fly 24hours around the world and not go see the scene in that country.

    THanking you again mate.

    Kindest regards,
    Adrian

it would be a pleasure and honor, however I dont want to impose on them either. I was hoping someone would see either this post or on the other forum i posted and perhaps contact me at their own convenience. As i said it would be great just to meet them, Australia is a long way away, but i would love to see the global hobby more connected!

that being said I have aquascaping ingrained in my brain, its a 24/7 mental affliction, so should anyone need help i would be delighted.

To be totally honest I'm not sure the uk has much of a scene or better put a particularly good scene, we have a few shops, one big one in the north and then a few others that aren't specialists dotted about the place often with poor knowledge bases. Things are changing, there's one or two upstarts coming out but I honestly think plants are going backwards again here, a lot of the old guys are to leave or have left the hobby interest waining or other reasons relating to the hobby and the newbs soon go into reefs or soon find it hard work or an impenetrable subject and bail, it's certainly not as diverse or rich a scene as it was 3 years ago, people either finding it too hard, too expensive or don't find it what they expected, no support because the old guys have left the hobby so they never develop, the retail big guns over here push the prices up astronomically and give very little (nothing) back to the hobby and then justify this by saying we sell a premium brand that therefore commends a premium price which makes newbs quickly leave or never enter the hobby because they think it outside their budget, there are good scapers, excellent infact but it's no longer a hobby to them...

Wow, thats incredibly sad! Something has to be done.

Perhaps a new store, or a new group running events similar to AGA conventions? Perhaps an email or letter to Nigata to ask Takash-san to come out and inspire the masses? ANYTHING!

If there is anything in your mind that we at EA can do we will CERTAINLY help. We have 6 dedicated and active aquascapers in EA crew, and two of us on staff in the shopfront. Please do let us know if we can help.

Will certainly keep posting pics and scape/convention vids up in the hopes of inspiring new hobbyists.

On another note, why is Paris so quiet? there must be SOME stores/groups there?

Well I'm afraid that there is not really a single plant store to visit in Paris. As most of the aquascapers here buy material online from "aquascape boutique" or "Floraquatic".

You can find some individuals in Paris and its region. Maybe we are a dozen (get in mind paris subburb is 2.2M and region +10M inhabitant).

I remember one more store that might be worth visiting:
Living Waters, it is not exactly London but not far away. They often have some rare plants and inverts.

Thanks so much! Unfortunately no one has contacted me. I'm in London right now for 2 more days but it looks like I won't be scaping this time round:( Paris seems to be an aquatic dead zone, I'm pretty down about the whole thing really but great spending time with the wife and baby anyways! Both beautiful cities

You want to go to the North, southerners are rubbish. ;)
I think it's an alien concept to most shops about the place still so it takes a whole lot to organise don't get too down over it, the uk is still suffering the hangover from goldfish bowls so it's perhaps unsurprising that we've not found our feet in aquascaping properly, especially not with what I mentioned before.

Did you make your way to ADC anyway?
Good luck for the rest of the stay!
