This is what can happen when you neglect your tanks, and plant too little. [-X I'm not even sure what's going on in the second picture.

I've had that stuff too. It's pretty amazing that stuff just appears in a tank. I've also seen similar algae on aquatic plants such a hornwort in quarries we swim at in the summer.

Yuck, if that ever happened to me, it would be gone within a minute! I can't stand algae that just distracts the look of a planted tank.

Wow...the second pic reminds me of a stagnant pond slowly drying up.

The second pic looks like someone pucked in the water :Blah:, maybe taken a day after a wild party!

Yeah, I think everyone agrees on how it looks, but to fix it is a different story... You need to keep your lighting, nutrients, etc. balanced.

Haha, I was so disgusted this weekend with the tank I decided to clean it out. And let me tell you it smells even worse then it looks! I'll save you the imagery of the scene, but take my word for it...Yuck! It's hard to imagine the tank used to look like this.

If I remember, I think it was during the holidays where I was away for about a month or so. The tank was newly planted, and no one took care of it. Came back home to a mushy looking tank.

The tanks looks okay nowadays, not much of a scape but plants are healthy and algae free. :amillanbliss:
