I love the colors. They remind me of patterns that you'd see on urns from ancient Greece. I might have to pick a few up!

I hate these for two reasons....otherwise I would have liked them
1- They lay very nasty white eggs all over the hardscape. Uglier than algae to look at. Big PIA to clean up thousands of those eggs.
2- They take a fatal stroll out of the tank very often and end up dying.

    Any preventive measures for these?

    These concerns are very true.

    1. Nasty eggs. Choose the small ones (1.5cm or smaller) as they are not yet mature and would not be able to lay eggs yet. Another advantage of having small ones is that they will be able to clean plant leaves without destroying your plant because of their weight. And also, you would enjoy them longer in your tank compared to old and dying ones. If you already have mature egg laying Nerites, you would just have to scrape their eggs off. :(

    2. Fatal stroll. My other tanks are covered by the lighting system that I have custom made to cover my tank. So I don't have this problem. But in my Iwagumi, esp. in the first few weeks, my Nerites and also lots of my shrimps together made a suicide pact. When I wake up in the morning I see many of them dead on the floor. But these days, I have not seen any of them escape the tank. Maybe because they are now more comfortable as the tank is now more stable and I have also lowered the water level to 1.5inch from the top. I'm also planning to make a glass lid to cover the tank during lights out at night or when nobody is around.

These are surely a hassle for us but for me, since the pros outweigh the cons, I'd be willing to do these. I love Neritinas!

No, I don't breed these as they could not be bred in fresh waters. They are all wild caught.

gorgious snails!! I have a few of the striped and horned ones in a few of my tanks. They are great little cleaners and I hope to get more as well. My mystery snails occasionally like to take a strole and have been stepped on because of that fatal passage in the dark. I am collecting the shells when they finally croke. Where ever you caught your beauties is a pond of gold. Those are some of the most beautiful snails I've seen. I wish that they could be bred. You could truely make a fortune and I would be the first in line with cash in hand. best wishes--R

Thanks sir! If only it were possible for me to ship them internationally, I would sir. So more hobbyists could enjoy and keep them in their tanks. ;)

I love nerites but they're all stupid.

They always seem to fall off the glass or hardscape and onto the substrate where they can't get enough of a grip to right themselves again and inevitably I have to reach in there every $*%*$)_# day to turn them right side up!

If I fail to see one, it dies.
