hey folks, some of you may read that i ll do a new scape in my rio 240. My "Beauty of the second floor" Scape reach it s peak and i ll take the final picture sometimes the next weeks. i would like to show you some ideas for the new layout. i attached a little sketch. i ll try to use plants which i allready have in my tanks, so i just need to buy some rotala rotundifolia. there will be some pieces of wood in the layout too, some of them covered with flamemoss. As sand i plan to use ADA Nil Sand and at some spots normal bright aquarium sand to increase a natural look. for rockwork i will use lavastone. so much so far... i keep you update. cheers
Hey Flo! Sounds nice, but why will you use lava rocks? I don't know, if it really matches to a lagoon. It will be interesting to see how you'll manage the transition between glosso and ss. cheers Eva (sorry, just a quick review as I'm in office)
huhu eva, i ll try to create a cliff with the lavarock between sand and soil. so the s.s. will be planted on the hill and the glosso next to the sand. the only place where glosso will make a transition is on the left side where the soil will slope up to the back. btw. the arrows show the direction the soil will be sloped... hopefully
Hi Flo, So far so good . I like the line which separat the sand from the plants. Looking forward to see how you will manage the scape. Cheers, LMA
thanks luis, it will be different as drawn on the sketch anyway, cause it s allways different from the first idea. the cliff must be very high at some places cause i have a amazing little piece of wood i would like to use. i ll show you a picture of this piece soon.
Hey Flo! So you'll gonna create more a cliff like Aram and not a lagoon? Anyway, it will become exciting, I guess. Is there a timeline, when you'll start the new one? Ohh! Really clever to increase the slope from the front to the back and not the other way around!)) Sorry, I couldn't resist! cheers Eva
clever, hm? i wrote that cause i could also slope it to the middle back and have a main hill in the middle of the tank :-p. the plan is quiet similar to aram s scape, at least i ll see what comes out during the hardscape. i won t plant S.S. next to glosso or l.b. cause the runners under the soil allready drives me crazy in the current layout , so i plan to seperate them with a cliff. at the spot i want to make a transition between glosso and S.S. i ll use a barricade under the soil (A stone, plexiglass or something). behind the cliff areas i ll try to use what we germans know as "fliegengitter" , to prevent the soil from sliding or falling on the sand. i would say it s going to be a mixsure of aram s scape style and something other and a lagoon can have a cliff coast too :-" edit: it has allready started... in my mind
here are the pictures of the wood. i m not sure if i ll use the big wood too. i ll see if i make the hardscape .
Hey Flo! I didn't want to upset you. You're to smart to create a hill in the middle when you have three-parted it. Btw: That "corpse-wood" (part 2) is really cool... cheers Eva
thank you folks for visit my thread and left nice comments (Eva ). i ll definatly use the "spiderwood" and the first wood on part 1, i think they are amazing
hi flo....i am about to ask you what is that "creature" thing..... it's good i read all what was posted in your "Lagoon" thread hahahah i'll just wait for the sketch come true inside your tank
thanks ED , i m looking forward to make my fingers dirty and wet at this project :113: i ll drive to our ADA shop maybe next week or the week after to buy the nilsand. so if all went well i ll start in around 4 weeks
hey folks, a quick update. yesterday i had my free day. i bought riversand, cause i want to save some money and it is more then just half of the price as ADA nilsand. i also bought some new lavarocks which are really big, hopefully they ll match in the layout and in my tank , otherwise the layout ll change a bit from my sketch.
Thank you lee . I ve just finished the setup, that was a marathon day. :Timeout: One DW is floating :frusty:, it destroyed a little corner on the right side. Anyway, have to fix it when the water clears up. Can t see anything at the moment . Pictures will follow of course. The Layout isn t as i planed it, but somehow it s allways more freestyle if i do a new scape . cheers
Hey Flo! Pretty much recycling, hm? Did you attach some moss to the stones? Can't see any details :-? Perhaps you should raise the left branch a little more or find a bigger one... Anyway, nice job Ler's see how it will develop. cheers Eva
