looks pretty bro, the center rocks look like vacant seats of Egyptian pharos Quite a colourful presentation
Is this the contest entry? It's a really nice scape. If you missed top 200, I bet you didn't miss it by much. I talked a little bit about depth in another thread. You certainly present that by incorporating your focal point rock toward the front of the tank on the left, and then the complimentary rocks toward the rear. If I were to offer any kind of critique it would be that, besides the focal point, everything else is just about the same height along all the edges, from the plants to the rocks. This kind of makes some of the elements blend together in places where they may look even better contrasting. Also, the depth element on the right ends up the exact same height as the mimic rocks toward the rear. I would want to vary the heights of these two points, either higher or lower. The very last potential change... You have 3 rock elements, the focal point, the rear group, and the one on the right. They are all spaced about the same distance apart or at least appear to be spaced like that in your pic. Sometimes, uniformity in spacing elements ends up detracting from the overall look. All that said, I really like this scape. I wish you could make just a few minor changes and then resubmit.
Yes, It was my submission Thank you for the very nice crtique. I know there are many weak points in t he scape, I am learning.
I'll tell you one thing... I like your passion. I feel like you are already quite close to reaching your goals.
Yes, no doubt about that one. That's exactly how it should be. Talented scapers have no business doing minor rescapes and resubmitting. It's not that they ran out of ideas and are just desperate to place well in a contest. That would be bad enough. It's just a matter of pure laziness, and that's inexcusable. That said, I brought up that up just to point out what I think so many aquascapers go through. Sometimes, just a minor turn here or there and a scape is completely transformed. I feel like that could be the case here with Severum's entry. For me, I kick myself a little knowing how immature my tank was when the pic had to be submitted. It had been flooded for less than 3 months. It's an entirely different animal now already. Sometimes it's hard to have "the sweet spot" line up with a contest deadline. That's why it's so important to keep a great photo journal of your work/process.
Just spotted this... I really like it - it has quite a unique feel to it which is pretty rare. Congrats
Thank you. No, I have a long way to go and I do not mind that. In fact the journey is more interesting than the destination. You will see complete different scape/s from me next year. I am currently trying to identify what I am going to do next, scape wise. Thanks for liking it. Its not a very conventional one. I purposely did it as I was getting sick of seeing conventional scapes everywhere, wanted to this. It's a risk that did not payout. Very few people like the scape.
