Since starting the ADG Vibe, the mission has been to make it not just another social network - but rather a more integrated kind of comprehensive means of inter-connectivity that ultimately serves hobbyists of all kinds - from the planted aquarium enthusiasts (like those of you here!) to the people who are still getting their feet wet and everything in between. Naturally, as the Vibe has gotten stronger and more active, we've tried different things and different approaches to break out of the conventional box for these kinds of programs. Part of that means getting back to core ideas and concepts: what do we think is cool as a hobbyist? what was missing from other websites that could've been cool little things to have available? This philosophy has driven a lot of ADG - we do a lot of things because they're things that as hobbyists, we thought would be cool to have or to do. Clearly as part of this development process, some things work, somethings don't and we kind of evolve to focus on what works, what people want. So, we'd like to introduce a new little spin-off program of the Vibe: The ADG Vibe Spotlight. What we'd like to do here is feature videos from hobbyists of their own aquariums and layouts and give them rewards for the hard work they've done to get their layouts to where they are today - because sometimes it's nice to be recognized and rewarded for your effort, especially when it comes to a demanding hobby such as keeping a planted aquarium. So what we're doing is taking any video submissions of hobbyist layouts and aquariums, selecting good work and then giving them some free product as a way of saying "good work," as well as featuring them on all the ADG Vibe outlets. The first person to be put on the ADG Vibe Spotlight is Khoa Pham, a Houston local, and we really enjoyed his 60-F. We hope you do too! We have the perfect give-away for FISHRfun - some ADA AP-1 Fish Food, which Simulans (green neons) absolutely go nuts for. Aquarium Design Group | Facebook
Simply either link us or send us (frankw@aquariumdesigngroup.com) a video of your layout and we'll be selecting candidates of those that qualify. Some tips: Try to keep a steady hand while videoing your layout, while it doesn't need to be professional quality, keeping to some basics that clearly show the layout are advisable. The "My 60-F Iwagumi" video taken by a hobbyist that we surprised with this feature is a great example of a good, quick video of a layout.
The latest ADG Vibe: Spotlight is on George Farmer! He executed a well done hardscape only aquascape in creating his biotope for White Cloud Mountain Minnows. We've got a good respect for people who venture into trying out the hardscape only! Aquarium Design Group | Facebook
Today's surprise Spotlight is on Saintly! Couldn't resist a good iwagumi: Aquarium Design Group | Facebook
