Wow Roy - Thank you, I have spent hours looking for options that looks like it could be the cure
Hi Ian, Glad i could help
Roy as ever things aint what they seem, I have a Soda Stream bottle, then I went to order the adapter, unfortunately it won't work with my regulator as the one I have can't take the added pressure, so I have also ordered a new regulator too. Should arrive tomorrow Which is great as I have just ran out of CO2
I'll keep you updated...
Hi Ian, Sods law Glad you are getting a new one in the nick of time
Sorry Ian, checked in much later than your post. The shrimp look great. I'll be checking in a lot more now as I've forced myself to move forward with my main tank and that will hopefully revive my interest in the hobby Love the undulations in your sand BTW.
Andy glad you popped in, my tank has just been moved as we are having the room decorated "What a pain!"
I'll post more once its back in place
Andy, guys I've bottled it!
Unfortunately the shrimp did a vanishing act on me throughout the move , I was intending to get some more once all was back in place….
However, I went out to an aquarium store and bought some fish in a whim they were just so cute, I had to have them, Sewellia lineolata = Hillstream Loaches they are gorgeous, unfortunately their requirements are nothing like what I had setup as they come from as the name suggests fast flowing highly oxygenated streams:
plants not important
CO2 defiantely NOT required
Additional water-flow achieved by adding Circulation Pump 900l ph
Additional Oxygen achieved by adding an original 1970’s Hy-Flo pump and airstone.
This is still the same aquarium luckily it is spotlessly clean because the water is flowing round at such a rate now it would look horrible it was dirty, the existing fish come from the same temperature, region so they don’t have any issues and I think it looks nice but it is now a biotype and not an aquascape as such!
Don’t worry I still have the desire for an aquascape and shrimp, I have kept the Co2 equipment, but it may be a case of when I retire! (Which isn’t that far away).
Sorry I feel like a bit of a let down to the cause
Glad to see you are back in action again.
How about some photos of your tank and new fish.
Nice Scape, Like it!
Lol Ian I was looking at Hillstream loaches/Hong Kong Plecs a few weeks ago. They are cool fish. Are you setting up a river bed manifold?
Hi Ian, Great to have you back mate
As Keith said Photos Please
really nice rocks, can you put some photos?
as soon as I saw the first picture I thought was best to put vallisneria or similar high and thinn plant!
Thanks for the comments guys,
I have got the opportunity of a new tank (though I haven’t got anywhere to put it YET!) So no this one is too small to create a manifold as such, I have just gone for max rotation and getting oxygen into the tank here are some phone shots of the culprits so I apologise for the quality but you can get the picture. I would suggest they are NOT what you want in your tank unless you want to throw away all that you have done
PS this is the pump I added with just one connection with two it runs much quieter but its a classic!
That is a beautiful looking fish you have there.
Hi Ian, Super looking fish
Lol. Ian. I just whacked my cherry shrimp tank ~ the big one in the cupboard ~ up to 12x turnover.............because I did an impulse like you and put 3 zebra plecs in it
I don't know how this snuck in here
Thanks to Roy I recived a "Little Package" in the post today, the best things come in little packages or so my Mum used to tell me!
Riccia fluitans direct from Roy's recent prune this is only a sample I was even able to continue the good fortune and passed some to my son.
Thanks Roy I'll keep you posted on growth etc
Andrew most unlike you!!!!
Me I'm a bit rash from time to time, but I have seen how you work, that beautiful tank of yours, I would have never had the patience you had… I hope all the residents are enjoying the new “Flow” in the tank, actually I think they’ll love it…
I like dwarf Plecos and the zebra is a stunning fish
Roy I need to change so much of the tank, now its all bits and bobs but I don't want to do it until the weather improves. I'll be going for more river type rocks more like yours, rounded rocks... BUT we have one more room to decorate it has been off the radar for some time as it has Three big tanks in it. Though we now have a deadline to get it done so its action stations, I hate moving tanks at all but to have to move them twice is going to be a challenge! Then once that's all done then I'll get another its on hold at the moment I hate waiting but it's nice and big so its worth waiting for.
