I have a small shelf for two nano tanks that I want to paint this weekend, with oil based eggshell paint. It's fixed to the wall good & proper so would be a nightmare to remove...but I desperately need to paint it so it looks the biscuit!:p

My fish are less than a meter from the shelf, so my question is would I be risking poisoning them with any fumes?

If I covered the aquariums & kept the room well ventilated with windows open & wear my duffle coat & a hat (Brrrr -it's cold here!)...would it be okay do you think or is it just too risky?

The best and safest way is to remove the shelf or shift the fish.

The other method is add extra aeration to the tank/s and keep covered for at least 24hrs when finished the painting.

Make sure the room is heated and well ventilated it will dry quicker if the area is heated.
