Just wanted to share my initial reaction to this new substrate. No Messy water upon initial build! With regular Amazonia, you know when initially filling the tank it gets messy; not with this new product! The long term effectiveness remains to be seen. ADA says this new substrate is "suitable for the beginner aquascaper"; upon further research, I learned it seems to have less amonia and nitrogen. I haven't read the instructions yet :>)

Here is a pic of how clear the water was upon initial flood:

    Super clear (y)

Instructions for wimps :ROFLMAO: or for when you get stuck. Who needs the ikea manual after all.

But having said that, normally read up on product first

After moving some rocks around, the water is still clear! Try that with regular aquasoil. The jury is still out on plant growth; Soon I'll update how the plants like this new substrate. I Read the instructions and they simply say: don't rinse, don't use medication in aquarium, and of course buy a new bag once the pebbles crumble into sand in about a year--that's why sometimes I don't like to read "instructions". From my experience, after a year the regular aquasoil dissolves into mud but guess what? I'm still able to re-use it and the plants still love it even though it's out of shape.

That sounds like a more sales instructions.

How are the plants going now have they adapted to the new substrate?
