Maaaaaan...I've lost 3 shrimp. I am not amused. More amused than the shrimp I expect, but not by much. Water quality is perfect..food regime is perfect..temperature is between 25.5 and 27.5 but hovers around 26.4 most of the time.

How old are the Shrimp, and are the remainder breeding?

If so its not a concern if your tank is OK I would not worry unless you start losing more then I would start checking what happens in the area around the Shrimp tank.

    Hi Keith,
The tank is a month old today, shrimp have been in for 2 weeks and they had been at the store for a little while. They were quite tiny when I got them. I bought 4 cherry and 4 amano shrimp and the rest seem to be doing ok, no breeding yet though. My SAE fish are doing well and keeping everything clean and the plants are getting along nicely..apart from the carpet.

I agree there is a very good chance the tank was not fully cycled.

The SAE with shrimp that is questionable as well.

Hi, yes I cycled the tank properly. It's only the cherry shrimp that suffered, the amano are okay and the SAE's are happy. Carpet is going but its really slow and patchy still.

Hmm..I've had SAE and shrimp before and they got along..maybe they are just hassling the cherry shrimp because they are small. The amanos just hide in the plants and keep to themselves at the back. I'll keep an eye on them and see if they are getting agro. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Mojojojo, Great(y) Had me worried there. Sometimes Carpet plants can take some time to settle in. But if they don't try another plant Hope all go's well from now:)

I think it might be white staghorn..but I can't be sure. My Oto's munch it so I'm not too concerned.

I will go a bit further in saying it requires a very good trim then we can see your aquascape a lot better.

    Hi Keith,
Agreed. I'm going to cut it all down to about half. There is literally no light getting to my carpet so its not doing anything. It's completely overgrown now :)

    Hiya,
It's turning out completely differently to what I had planned. Quite a few of the plants melted and it seems that whats left behind is what I have got to work with. I'm just really holding out for the carpet. if that takes off I'll be super happy :)

Hi Mojojojo, Thats a good attempt, no worries if youre seeing algae bloom in the first few weeks, it will surely happen and takes times to complete the nitrogen cycle. keep it up, more updates ???

Please join and like us on Facebook page by the name of Aceaquascapes where u will be surprised to see how many aquascapers are doing it in the desert ! We do have a collection of plants waiting to be plucked out right out of the tank thus losing no time to adapt a new tank.
