Several clubs had complained about the cost on 3 different continents, these are not well to do rich people, but many folks wanted to have him speak. So it's a deal with the devil so to speak. Translator, and another 1-2 other people to come along to help. Photo books that had little to do with aquariums.......I do not know.......I did not pay the bill, only heard what was stated. I have no reason to not believe them.

It's a big draw, much like the contest is. So is worthwhile for many. We as hobbyists want to build the hobby. This is one way to do that. Same with the contest.

In some respects, I do not blame him/ADA. In person and with good communication, I think a lot of this stuff is a non issue, but on the web....this stuff can be blown out of proportion at times.........
But the complaints were in person about those cost and they did not appear reflective of such ill/bad behavior. Still, I did not pay that bill, so who knows.

The organisers paid for the translator, a nice lady working at the Japanese embassy & a friend of Amano himself who did a superb translation.

Just add the organisers collected some money that went towards the facilities etc.

The rest was covered by ADA M and that sum is unknown to me.

I think this type of judging format might make it even harder than it already is for certain style of scape to make it into the top 20. It seems most people prefer scapes with driftwood in it and popularity vote always win.

I watched it but they canceled the translation after half hour and there was nothing to see except some guys walking around and later on they were cleaning the tanks - nothing spectacular. by the end mr.amano was shown shortly straight in front of the camera and then it was off again.. :ehhh:

I´m totaly disappointed with both live streams.

The Chat took place few days before :))

Today's stream was good, amano set up a new tank and it was fun to see 1000 helpers around him giving him everything he needed. Also he was talking Japanese only, so not sure everybody been there understood what he was talking about. As the hardscape was finished there was an applause and amano said "professional" haha :))

Looking forward for the tomorrow's stream :)

    Stream is over,

it was amazing - if I understood the little bits of english correct -they scaped 16 tanks!
Some of them were really cool, others were neat - the last one was a one stone iwagumi :)) however it was fun to see Mr.Amano and 1000 helpers around him, tomorrow he´ll be planting them thought.

who else is watching the stream? please share opinion o:)

I was following the stream yesterday when Amano and several others were setting hardscape of a 120p most probably. Looked like super massive Seiryu stones. It was boring after a point though. There was some contention on a piece on the right side that was tried over and over with several pieces (lucky them, we never have so many options to choose from as we go) but I could not understand why they rejected or selected any individual piece. If the reason for the actions are not clear, it becomes boring to watch after a while.

I think it was because the size was too similar between main and 2nd stone. The 3 stone [sanzon] balance was not good as the 2nd stone was too big and the shape did not complement the layout.
[I hope you're talking about the same scene.]

translation or subtitles would have been great, they could stream the whole event 1 day later but with extra info - would make more sense imo

Everybody looked so serious-must be the cameras or just the way Amano likes it.

I'm interested in any new direction he's taking with scaping. IMO Amano has popularised not just Iwagumi but also the white bg scape. It used to be black or blue but white really gives a feeling of lightness and positive tone.
