Pay the judges to judge all the tanks objectively, stop asking judges to do all this work for free. It' is a thankless job, most everyone hates you, it's a PITA etc.........

ADA gets a lot of press out of this etc.......so they do make $ in that respect............

I agree, charge as the contest grows and the volume of entries increases to make it more manageable.

Maybe ADA should make only the top 200 that can vote but they need to select 2 or 3 tanks. Otherwise they will only votes their own tank. This way anyhow entry will be pointles

I guess Singapore is screwed. :)))

Good point- but I don't like this voting system. It feels like an Idol contest- world favourite or lottery where you can buy votes. Not a merit contest because the contestants will still only vote themselves and their friends. :))) So the more friends you have...

Agreed especially if they suck and are biased at judging. :)))
    Pay? I thought it's an honour. :-"

i saw pictures of the audience who attended the IAPLC awarding of prizes.
i guess, they are the so called party participants .
they don't look like hometown resident altho majority of them are chinky eyes:33::))

i don't think there will be a biased decision:))

    No worries stan :welcome:
I was thinking from quantity not quality point of view

If you don't want any mediocre participant then it must follow UEFA champions league competition scheme
Where only champions (up to 3rd position) from each country allow to participate in the competition

Anyway, the steering committee choose top 200, so there is no way to cheat, right ?
IMHO, the problem is how the committee select those 200 ? so there won't be any mediocre tank can pass top 200, like what we saw every year

It would be good if the name and country in the first 200 participants can not see until the end of voting. This would prevent the patriotic vote.

My guess they wont show the name of the participant and the country but people will post their scape in forum, blog, facebook, etc. So you most likely know whos scape it is anyway.

The round 2 rule didn't say only the 200 chosen can vote in round 2.
This means it's possible to put in mediocre entries just to gain a vote.

If only the 200 + aquarium shop + publishers can vote then it remains to be seen how impartial or practical this is.

I'm sure most guys would vote for themselves anyway.
I can see the more shops you have in your country the more chances you have of a patriotic vote to tip the scales in your favour.
As for publishers- the number of publishers & their patriotic vote is also game.

    --

To me round 2 and round 4 are the new additions and is not in the right direction. It's too open for all sorts of abuse.

I'd rather they fine tune round 3.

No honor in not being paid.
ADA is paid, the judges are contractors for ADA, they should be paid. If it's AGA or a non profit, then that is different.

We do not see Amano giving talks for Free, ask any club, he's a very expensive "date".

    Where's this honor then?????

Do as I say, not as I do..........

NA is amano's business he will not glued himself into this for nothing.

ADA organized iaplc what ever they have decided regarding judging system so be it. anyway, there is always room for improvement/changes on the judging system if ever they realize, hopefully before the next year contest begin, that something not right with the new judging system.

host country always have the numbers and they might doubled by next year.
however, they must produce a very convincing winning entry/entries or else it will cause more disappointments to all. mho.

i guess IAPLC steering committee wants to have daily feedback on what is being discuss here that's why they are always tune in to ASW:D

This will be very difficult, as you notice from previous years all top 7 are really-really good. They all are deserve to be the gran champion. This what make it difficult, who will be able to tell whether the it is real or just patriotism/nationalism. I'm sure there will be dissatisfaction regardless which country is the winner.

Let face it, just like in sport event, most people will support their home country even though there is no chance of winning.

There are too many similar talks now around these new rules everywhere in spite of nationalities.
I would better avoid any further predictions just to keed the cheerful mind and not to lose the inspiration. [IMG]

I think the discussion is a good thing. Hopefully ADA read it and realize that there are serious flaw to the system and fix it before the real thing. Otherwise they will think that the system is perfect and go ahead with it. ;)
