What lens do you normally use? 12mm to get wide angle for fish tank? for 28mm?

I've been using my 18-55mm for the fish tank. I think I've been somewhere in the middle with my full tank pics.

William, I recommend http://aquatic-photography.com as a resource uniquely created to answer questions of this kind.

Quick answer, the lens is not the most important thing here, though a wide lens works best. You need to use either a lot of light or a studio strobe system on top of the tank, and probably a dark ambient environment to capture aquariums well. A good tripod and ability to shoot on Timer is also a must.
