Ok, managed to get the downloads finally. I made top 200 as well. Aquadream also made it. I will let him give details if he wishes. Sorry I didn't recognize other members scapes immediately unfortunately.

EDIT: Removed my number per contest rules. Wish I would have read that before.

i am currently viewing the top 200....don't you think it is not against the rule to give your tank number
just in case you made to the top 200.

There are some very spectacular tanks as usual. But I must say I am a lil disappointed to see some reposted scapes and scapes redone on already submitted hardscapes :(

The problem with my scape regarding this rule is that I have revealed the information about it long before any contest took place. I have two incomplete vidoes from it posted all over the net and think it will be hard for anybody to miss it. So I'm dead in the water:D

Another scape of mine that I have made for a client also made it in the first 200.:)

Quite true...I dont see how the new system is contributing to address the complaints that were raised in previous years competitions.

The situation is pretty much the same, just that the top 200 get shuffled by the public votes.

I don't think they care much. It is more of a curtesy reminder.
This voting as a general rule will have little in common with the outcome in the end.
You see! Me, you anybody. We can all give one vote per tank. That will normally count for 1 point.
The judges later will give up to 200 points per tank. So the judges opinion counts 200 times higher than any of us.
That's why I think the public voting is not going to be that influential.

It is probably good this way, because the participants will have some say in the results.

Also if too many people from the same country or region vote for the same scape it will be apparent that some campain is on the way.

It is exactly the same problem or worst. I bet there are couple of people who are in rank 201, 202, etc who are not happy about it. Basically you just increase from 100 to 200 and then asked the participant to votes. Or tank 201 maybe better than tank 200, same argument all over again

This is a dificult one to answer.
It comes down to who is the authority that considers the top 200 to be the top. Of course the guy that pays the enterprise will have the top word about it.
So who ever dissagree will have to try to look from the authority point of view, even if it does not look right. It's business after all.

    My first impressions are:

    Complex hardscape is a MUST

    Classical Iwagumi is OUT
    Panoramic landscaping is generally IN
    (panoramic mountain iwagumi is IN)
Left to right split aquascapes are IN
    Central setup is OUT

    Red plants are OUT
    Mosses are dominating and IN

    Dark background is OUT
    Transparent and bright is IN
    (backlight is IN also)

    Too many white paths.
To many above water landscaping – just a few tanks could be categorized as underwater scenery.
Fishes increasingly became nuisance and pain in the ass.

    My Conclusions:
I am satisfied by what I saw. So many tanks on the highest level – probably the highest ever. It is very very good for IAPLC, aquascaping and for NA style – I personally have a need to make a step backwards to nice arranged fish tank. By this I mean: fishes, plants, rocks, woods,... arranged as truly underwater scenery.

Mostly same kind of tanks. some super tanks, albeit very less. Repeat of the mundane. Not very inspiring for aquascapers, is it? Driftwood, mountain, lake. formation which we have seen and reseen from start of nature scaping still ruling the roost. Sad.
