By the way, the judges only mark the top 100. So if the previous tank rank below top 100, I doubt any of the judge will remember.

Actually if you look at tank through mirror you will see this image. So it exist.

Grand prize work is 3302 points, last year was 3107...
Difference between second place is 35 points, last year only 2 points.
    Congratulations to Pavel Bautin. :proud:
I'll prefer to wait for better pictures to judge the others.

About Photoshop mirroring, in my opinion is not acceptable expecially for a tank that ranked in top 10.
I totally agree with Robertus, it's impossible to remember for a judge looking at 1.800 and more pictures, it' a mistake and we have to accept it. It's only about the applicant to the Contest to be correct.
Last year a tank was downgraded from honour prize position to number 35 position, due to the fact it was too similar to previuos year (and IMHO it was not!).

If you like to submit different impression or perspective of a tank already submitted, please re-setup changing wood position. Or submit not mirrored tank accepting point deduction. It's not a question of money, it's only question of time.
I did it with same stones 3 times in 2 year.

Please apologise for bad English and remeber it's only a game not a question or life or death.

EDIT: Corrected some wrong words, added pictures and a couple of things more.

    Ciao

It was downgraded due to use of same materials. And this rule applies only for one who entered to TOP27 anytime ago.

    please...:rain:
is only a commun sense thing
i dont know is "09 or "10 image is real.... is very easy to said that ("no, the adulterated picture is 09") ...but really, the tank is the same, the materials and plants too, only little, minimal changes...... the visual result is little better (or much better if you want), but , insist, is the top 27....and anyway, is an irregularity. Obvious and clear.

AND, even if this year image is real and the 09 image not....INTENTION is manifest: show 2 different realities from a same tank for more disimulation . And, the visual impact can be change more with mirror image resource than for normal more growth of plants (absolutly normal and expected if the tank is another year old)

I think , in that level of ranking (top 27) , the possibility of irregularityes must be minimal......because is Very important for the image and credibility of the contest.

if that be so "normal" or "regular" for a serious contest (as supposedly iaplc) , all aquascapers would be agree ...but (fortunately) not ...and thats not for nothing

well, for me is a deception.... as Enrico Serena says, is only a game ;) , he is very right ;) not a death or live thing....the contest are only a (funny, i must be recognize) part of our hobby ..but saddens to see irregularities in a great and, for great part of aquascapers, favourite contest

    Saludos
thanks for the winner frontal image
(and sorry if i whrite with mistakes)

ja, in my opinion thats layouts looks more different than 7/136 ranked . The autor not only change the original position of older woods (vertical); add more woods too, and finally creates a real different effect...I don t see bad intention .....and was penalized !

    Saludos!

I have to agree with Apache-

This doesn't add or reduce the effect unless there's typography or stock market chart[then you're screwed! lol.]
It doesn't give the user of this effect any advantage IMO.

Whatever his reason for mirroring- it's unnecessary, if only to imply it's a different layout. He didn't fool anybody.

Those who score top 27 have to change their layout materials or suffer deduction, this rule was only enforced once and unfortunately to a layout I felt looked different.

    My two cents.

It's true, notice how there's a direct correlation between who uses ada and how high they place? ;)

I'm over the ada comp, the placing literally means nothing to me anymore.

Grigoriy Polishchuk to create #7 used Tetra Initial Sticks and gravel.
Takashi Amano has given his highest value (199 points) to #37.
