This tank has been set up in October last year. Idea was to do a tank in japanesse Ryouboku nature style.

Lightning 4x23 w Philips NDL energy savers and 1 T8 Atman gro lux.

Hardscape remainded the same as it was in the begging, only some plants were changed since it was formed. Hardscape is vine roots, covered by java moss.

    Lifestock In October:

Fauna- Neocardinia dentriculata and Ancistrus sp.

Flora- Echinodorus ozelot, Echinodorus shluterii leopard, Echinodorus parviflorus tropica, Echinodorus tennelus, Crynum thainum, Cryptocoryne
parva, Cryptocoryne wendtii brown, Cryptocoryne willisii, Cryptocoryne becketi var. petchii. Nymphaea zenkeri, Nymphaea pubescens, Sagitaria subbulata, Anubias bareteri, Anubias nana, Hygrophyla salicifolia, Ludwigia repens, Vesicularia sp. and Glossostigma elatinoides.

On the beggining it was like this

And a week later plats started to grow...

By the end of October, Glosso carpet was formed

End in mid of November alges started. Of course plants did grow nice.

End of Nobember, nice growth, a litle bit of alges, but OK....

In january i have decided to rescape it. I put out Echinodorus ozelot and aded Microsorium narrow and windelow. Also I started to fertilize with Easy Life products, Easy Carbo, Pro fito and Ferro

In mid January situation was wery good, alges have wanished and plants grew very fast and lush.

And in begging till begging of March tank got realy wild, since I didnot trimmed plants very often..

And now since I had some time I trimed plants a little and also aded Vallisneria nana, Monosolenium tennerum, Rotala nanjenshan, Eleocharis parvula, Bolbitis heudeloti. Also I have took out all of Glossa and tennelus, separeted them, since they were totaly mixed and replanted them.

Love the big lotus you have in there!!! Mine used to be that big and then something happened to it and now its really small. What kind of moss is that on your DW Java Moss? Love the look to it and how well it is filled out.

There are several lotus plats, and when one gets small, the other is already well grown. Mosses are Java moss -Vesicularia dubyana.

I forgot to mention the most important fauna factor for the stability of this tank. I have abou 200 red chery shrimps.

Actualy some can be seen on picture I've posted, but you must look carefully, since most of them are in Glosso or Java Moss.

I love the moss mounds and the shadows and textures it creates.

What inspired the title, "Hope for Rain"?

Inspiration for the title is a name of my wife - the name Nadezda (which is Russian name, but relativelly frequent in Serbia), when translated to English means Hope for Rain.

Does your lotus ever get stunned and not grow at all?

No I don't trim it every weekend. I trim only old leaves, that are dying of.

Pat I think that the trick is in lightning. In my expirience Lotus leaves grows as high as they reach sufficient lightning. This lotus is directly under the lamp and when the leaf reach direct light it stops growing - leaves are getting position under the lamp and grow in wide not in hight.
