I have not seen Shawn for a while.

I have always preferred the Loach/catfish medication and raise the temp up slowly.

A few tips continue the treatment for at least 2-3 weeks after you see the last Ich.

Reason it could still be in your tank at the undeveloped stage.

Also reduce your feeding as they will not eat as much.

    I also increased the aeration.

If you can no light for a few days this will also help to reduce the stress on the Loaches.

    Thanks Keith.

So medication is still required on the loaches? Which type do you recommend? I have plecos and gobies in the tank as well. The loaches are still eating very well so I do not have any worries about their appetite. Just hope that the ich goes away soon. :)

That is always a YES/NO answer I always did some just use heat.

There is a special Ich treatment for Loaches and Catfish go to a good LFS and talk to them my only advice would be go with the well know brands not "Its as good as"

    Keith,

I applied the heat treatment (no medication) and it seems like the clown loaches have little to none white spots on their body already. Hope that they are on the road to recovery!!

That is great now keep the heat treatment going for at least two more weeks then very slowly reduce the temperature also, keep up the water changes and, the aeration.

Yes just the temp. You need to maintain it for the parasites entire life cycle in order for it do die without infecting more fish. I find the temp treatment less stressful than the chems.

The only people who completely dislike the Temperature treatment are the LFS that sell the Ich medications.

I was not involved with any Forums when I had a decent dose of Ich and that came via my water supply.

image.jpeg Here I am sharing a picture of my loaches tank, some of the amazon leaves melted after the increased in temp. Yes the loaches are curious with how the plants taste like too, therefore the holes in some of them! :D

Clown Loaches love soft leaved plants, feed them with fresh Iceberg Lettuce (not the loose leafed packaged).

They also love cooked green peas.
