I would like to do a small emersed tank for vampire crabs, has anyone on the forum set one up before?

From the web they just need some water, lots of area above the water to burow and stay, and some live food.

    Any help is appreciated.

Hi Luis, excuse off topic please - but shouldn´t you better focus on aquascaping? :))

There is more to life than aquascaping my friend. I do tanks for schools and some offices, they are interested on a variety of setups. :)

So, this thread is not about aquascapes! Has anyone kept vampire crabs? :D

I would suggest messaging our member anne-et-jeanne from France who does the terrarium type setups. I think he keeps crustaceans quite a bit and may have some info for you.

Unfortunately, our French friend does not speak english.

The principles of aquascaping can apply to so many things! It is about creating living art and nature. Vampire crabs and/or fish, you could do it riparium style.

I've turned my HOB filter into an emersed waterfall with a peace lilly, mosses, hydrocotyle sp. and a couple others. It looks cool. something amphibians or crabs may appreciate :D Maybe something to consider in your upcoming design, Luis.

Of course! I will contact he fresh member, I do write and understand a little bit of french.

Emersed plants for me should be all over, and my mignon filters have mangroves, dracaenas and one plant that looks like glosso but it is lighter in colour, no idea what it is.

Hydrocotyle is also an amazing plan to grow emersed, my favorite by far.

dracaenas, i have not thought of those. No more room in the one HOB, but i have another one idle, so I could do something with that too.

good luck with the crabs. Is this for a personal setup or for someone else?

    Thanks.

This is for a school, I like to setup tanks where the kids would learn from it.

I plan to have some sort of a mister built with a eheim pump, some pipe and garden misters.

Wood covered with moss and some hygrophilas will do the job. :)
