Your attention detail makes every part of your Aquascape appear to be so natural.

Fantastic tank to sit back and admire.

This is a beautifully done aquascape, Felix. Thank you for sharing. Are your shoal of fish called green neon tetras?

I think you will find they could be Cardinal Tetras there Colouring's are stronger than the Neon Tetra

The cardinal tetra is a freshwater fish of the characin family of order Characiformes. It is native to the upper Orinoco and Negro Rivers in South America.

    Scientific name: Paracheirodon axelrodi
    Higher classification: Paracheirodon

The Green Neon Tetra is a freshwater fish of the family Characidae of order Characiformes. It is native to the upper Orinoco and Negro Rivers in South America.

    Scientific name: Paracheirodon simulans
    Higher classification: Paracheirodon
    Rank: Species

As you can see there is a difference in their Colouring.

by looking closely to the photos posted, the shoaling fish in my opinion are green neon tetras or simply neon tetra to others.
i should know the difference between the two tetras because cardinal is my favorite fish to add in all my aquascape.

since the photos are quite dark the fish must be confirmed by the thread owner.

I agree Ed the photo is rather dark, is there a possibility they could be a cross breeding even if caught wild.

Hi Keith, i am not sure about cross breeding but as long as the parallel lines of color exist specially the red one,
the names will always be cardinal and neon to differentiate the two.
however what i've read is that these fish do not breed in captivity.
for them to multiply they should be kept in their natural habitat.

I have known a Cardinal Tetra importer for many years who imports them by the thousands all very young reason being he had a greater survival rate and, a few years back told me they were now breeding Cardinals and because of that in time they would be like the Neons a weaker fish that did have the life span like the wild caught Cardinals.

    He only imported the Cardinals.

As you live in the Philippines you might be able to find out if they are commercially breeding Neons and if so what varieties.

Ed thank you for your reply.

As I am no longer driving (health & age reasons) I cannot go and see that importer and talk to him.

Very atmospheric Felix, probably similar to the natural envoirment in the wild for Cardinals

Thank you as I suspected they live in an area which could be very high in Tannin's.
