Nice post, reminds me a lot of Charles Jencks works.
A japanese zoo exhibit, one for the living room maybe...
...and one for the store room so you never need to buy plants again.
Hardscape for days!
I'm loving these japanese minimal plant mass tanks lately.
Amano is getting his slope on lately!
Another taste of something different from Amano, look at the size of that central rock!
Too easy when you don't have to pay as much for the aquasoil! The rocks peeking out of the top is a cool effect. I would like to see it from the front. Is that a sand foreground?
I love this scape!!! very interesting use of rocks!! will definitely try somethin' on this line in my next scape!!
Imo that scapes isn't all that balanced and lacks a clear focal point, it is however a great inspiration point, great rocks too, very rare to see something different used differently.
yeah..that's what intrigued me! mostly avoided rocks used to perfection atleast on the scape!.
I think the rock work is petrified wood, if so, it had a brief spell in popularity but it soon shifted back to landscape rock (sirayu), a lot of people found it made water really hard which is why it fell from popularity, that and no winning scapes in the iaplc had it which meant no one wanted to use it because people are fickle.
hahaha! so true on that..look at me all my scape with rock work has red laterite in them..abundantly available on roadside free of cost (and aquarium safe)..ever my scapes win in IAPLC people will rush for it..an' all I have to do is pick em' up from the roadside - ship - an' earn $$ hahahaha!!!
Wait, you have a top 100 scape in iaplc?!
No red laterite here, plenty of coke cans and smashed glass bottles though...
But yeah, people always use what's in the iaplc, they see what did well the year before and then copy it sometimes better, sometimes worse but for every good scape the year before there's 20 that are derived from it the following year. People always want to have the fashionable rock work too...
nono! I have never taken part in IAPLC nor I ever will, don't want to be the centre of controversies..
Yeah won't catch me entering it either, I honestly think competitions like that, that encourage secrecy and promote elitism do far more damage to our already declining hobby than good.
Plus, if I enter and don't come first I would cause holy hell and start saying it's all rigged and that's why I didn't win. It's best not to go down that road.
Ps. I am still technically on leave and running on a borrowed laptop time so please feel free to share your inspiration, there's been some really excellent posts from those who already have.
Considering I find these fish a bit ostentatious and gaudy for my liking, when shot like this it makes it seem a crime to stick them in anything less than a beautiful 50l.
