Hi everyone. Takashi Amano just made the largest planted tank in the Oceanario de Lisboa in Portugal

    Check it out

I really don't like it and that's why I'm posting it, to get everyone else's opinion.

    What do you guys think?

Thank you for posting that tank.

All I can say is it's a monster of a tank over all it looks very interesting the problem is it's so large to see every section at once, as it looks like many different sections combined to fill in that tank.

Yes. It would have been good if it was treated as a whole.

    Hi RaRdevA,

The planting is KIS. Give it time for the plants grow in:whistle: Then whole Scape will come to life and look Exquisite:love:

I am biased though.I love the masters Amano works (y)

If you recall the Sumida Aquarium tanks, none of the them look the same as the day they were planted. They were barren with planting that seemed chaotic. But over time, they've matured quite beautifully as their form and shape developed. I'm sure the same will happen in this 40m tank in a year. It takes time.

Yes, it will look better when plants grow. I just think we overrate amano and since he is the legend he could have done something unique and different instead of the same over and over but this time just oversized.

Even the sumida aquarium tanks are more spectacular Than this.

Anyways... ill give it 6 months to express again my opinion :p

Amano says that this layout is the most fantastic of all he's created. He says that it will look quite different in 3 months time when all the plants grow out.

Also, one aspect to take notice of in the planting arrangement is the space set aside for the water lilies to grow. (The circular substrate areas.) This will create an impression of an underwater canopy when the lilies reach the surface. There are no other plants placed in these areas because the lilies will block the light from reaching the bottom.

Thank you @Solcielo lawrencia That information makes a lot of sense. I wondered too about those unplanted gaps. Lets wait then to see how it grows :barefoot:
