Okay guys been a long time that I scaped something new.. I am at my girl's place at Manipal, Karnataka (India) for this weekend, and this is my gift to her to get her into the hobby. The scape has been named after the location address where she stays - "End Point Road". overnight bus journey did kill my back.. but yeah, nothing beats the time for an aquascape.. Tank Size: 18*10*12 in Substrate: Ocean free Absolute plant base+Root stick+ controsoil 2mm Hardscape - Locally roadside collected red laterite rock Light - 40W PLL (with reflector) Filter: Easy Aqua EX-500 Flora: HC, DHG, Glosso, HM, E. Tenellus, H. Tripartita. Pic 1 - The hardscape. Pic 2 - (Minor changes done to the scape) Day 1 post planting. Hope people like it..
I personally would have gone for hc or elantine hydropiper, moss and hairgrass. I'd be interested to see how it grows out, it's hard to tell just how much of the rockwork is actually going to be visible at all as is.
well hydropiper is tough or rather next to impossible to get hands on in India to be honest, well I did tell her of how to trim an' all..so lets see how it turns up. thanks for stopping by and checking out..
Hey Abhradip! I know, it's a little late, but : For me, the rocks should have been bigger or even placed higher (more slope). Anyway, nice tank, i guess, your girl will love it. Good luck! Overnight-bus-journey in India, hmm, you really love her cheers Eva
thanks eva..yes I too personally believe a bit more slope could have done wonders to be honest the path way became a bit flat after the fill - up.. well she loves it being her first planted tank..yep I do really love her..marriage is on the cards perhaps next year too.. plus all equipment/soil/Co2 etc was hand carried from Bangalore by me during my journey only the hardscape (collected) and tank was bought from her place..
One month Update.. Cycle complete - Tank inhabitants added - 5 harlequin rasbora+3 otocinclus.. Hope everyone likes the outcome.. Pic 1 & 2 - side shots Pic 3 - Scape deatils
I really like it - the right side in particular is well composed - as Garuf has mentioned you've lost the impact of the rocks on the left. Still I'd be very pleased if I could achieve growth and an overall aesthetic look like you have. Whats the tall hair grass like plant back right - thats just what I'm looking for...
thx a lot.. it's Ehinodorus tenellus actually.. it grows to a height of 2-4 inch in size so kindof ideal for nano scapes, but they grow very fast with runners, need to cut em' regularly from taking over the tank..
Ah thanks - I'd never have known not having actually kept it and from the pics I've seen I didn't think it grew so high. All I have is nano's so I'll be investing in some of that at some point for sure.
Sharing one more pic..concept of picture visualized by my girlfriend an' clicked by me - we call this pic - "Morning glory"
Can we get a shot without the backlight? For my tastes it's just a bit too overpowering for the scape. Tank looks really well, a rock in the left hand side in front of the H. tirpartita might just lift it. Great work!
i'll upload it next month perhaps garuf, left her house already! once i'll be back next month that update will be for you for sure..
Hey Abhradip! Yeah, left side needs something, I agree to Garuf! One month for an up? Grrr... But anyway, good luck with everything!!! cheers Eva
Hey Eva, it's a long wait I know..hehehehe..but i've asked her to try an put a small rock infront of the tripartita like garuf suggested lets see when that comes around.. but yeah..once it's done i'll ask her to click a pic an' send it for sure..
nice one tank there ! ...from the first post i was thinking is a bigger tank .... love the rocks also ... keep us updated even if takes a month ))) LOL
