Im not particular to Khuli loaches, i think my bladder snails will cover the same role. Going to look at fish tonight, I should come home with some more amano shrimp and some galaxy rasboras. Not sure if I need Otoclincus but i do have many tiny green spots on my glass that the snails enjoy eating.

I had Khuli's for many years and the places they can squeeze in and out of unless a snail is about 2-3mm they would have no hope. Otos I would wait until the tank is established a little more even then you will possibly have to feed them with Algae tabs.

Got 5 new amano, which I've nicknamed Franks, they're already feeding happily. Too bad you just posted as I also got an Otto cat. If it dies, I'll try one again in a year or so. At the moment the Otto is suctioned to the glass and breathing at a normal rate. We'll see.

To get a natural Algae for the Otto quickly is take a small amount of tank water and put it in an old small glass and keep it under strong light or in the sun for a few days instant algae.

If you add a small rock the Algae will grow on that or even a small piece of old soft DW

Good news, one of the new 5 franks (shrimp haha) molted and the Otto is still alive.

The molt is impossible to photograph thanks to it's clarity but it is clearly a molt given the fact it's not pink and has partially split in half 1 section from the head.

    The Otto looks very healthy.

I never cleaned the back of my tank I left it to the Algae eaters to keep clean and when I pulled the tank down I could see they had been doing a great job.

I've put blanched cucumber and spinach in the tank too, a snail likes the cucumber but the otto has touched neither. Not yet anyway. Otto likes laying around which leads me to believe that he is very hungry.[IMG][IMG]

Every thing is fine besides a stupidity fish fatality. Swam too close to the siphon and basically got its throat and gills sucked out.

On a positive note I will order either 6 or 12 chili rasboras to get them on wednesday. I'm leaning towards 12 to get more out of shipping and a larger more comfortable shoal.

    Please speak your opinions :)

I used an open course filter sponge and fitted it over my inlet, as it collect a lot of gunk the fry shrimp loved it. I must be washed at every water change if not it will clog up very quickly. One brand has a hole in it if not just cut a deep X at one end and push it onto the inlet.

They "can" be a rather shy fish chili rasboras therefore the bigger the school the better.

Everything is fine, otto died for no reason after getting fat for 3 days than suddenly slimming down in 1 day.

    Grass is growing very well,
Already have more noticeable leaves poking up. Need to get some red highlight stems growing in.
Ordering chili Rasboras this Wednesday (next week)

Possibly bloated. Corpse had a red dot on/near the anus and one near the mouth.

Seeing its a new fish it could easily be one of these

This can happen as the result of stress from a number of factors, such as the following:
    Poor water quality
    Ammonia or nitrite spikes
    Large drop in water temperature
    Stress from transportation
    Improper nutrition

Improper nutrition and stress from transportation are my primary suspects.

I would add to that list their breeding conditions.

I have seen them in a LFS in a perfectly clean tank and as skinny as you could possibly think and, told they were all OK just needed special food naturally they sell it.

Your tank will look even better when that carpeting plant is fully established. Will you be trimming it like a lawn or give it the natural appeal?
