    hi all ,
    been using for the last few months a pressurized system .
    my tap water pH is : 8,4

    I use ADA ph test, bromo blue I think, which indicates blue near 8ph and green near 7 ph.
    I run it on a timer (starts one hour before the light comes on, stops one hour before it goes off)

    1- my drop checker (thing that needs time to react ) stays greenish 24/24
    2- last time I tried to aerate by night the water (with my boyu)
    [IMG]
    This is my pump, and I simply use the air tube that makes air bubbles on the output of the filter
    then the morning i noticed that the DC color was blue .

    so that indicates that i have fully degaze off the co2 , and that means that this was never done before

    i kwon that ada company use pipe to aerate the water by night .
    i know that i have to approach 1ph drop . to make co2 available in a correct amount .

    should i do this every night with a timer on the pump to totally degazz off the co2 by night ?

    If there is enough surface ripple, it's not necessary to aerate. The rippling will degas.

    What is the KH for the pH to be 8?

    .

    For a beginner "enough" can be very confusing.

    kh question = from water supplier in french °
    Ta = 0,1°f
    • 1°f = 3,4 mg/l d'ion hydroxyde OH- = 6,0 mg/L d'ion carbonate CO32- = 12,2 mg/L de l'ion hydrogénocarbonate HCO3-
    Tac = 5,6°f
    le taux d’hydroxydes, de carbonates et de bicarbonates

    Th = 4,7°f

    that mean soft water . Th should be Kh , Tac should be GH , so kh : 2,6 °kh ---- GH : 3,14°GH
    by sera test my kh is near 3dKH
    i dont have test GH with drop test
    i add decent amont (recommended) of profito easy life witch add Mg , Mn , Ca to buffers water .

    let say i dont have enough ripple to totally degas the co2 when it's off
    in a other hand , if i add more ripple (24/24) then i must add more co2 to obtain the same dilution i add .
    i dont want to do this .

    i will try a ph test , before light and just before light off .
    every thing grow right in the tank , it's just a theorical question .

    Sounds like you should be talking to a water chemist.
