just got one of these in the mail for an upcoming build.. Anyone else using one of these? It seems like a nice light, build quality is actually pretty good for the price. Gets a little warm on its highest setting.. Passive cooling I guess that's to be expected?

They are nice. I'm using a Chihiros on my 45 cm. They put out a lot of light, more than the ADA aquasky (first generation...not sure about the newer aquasky and probably not as much as the dual strip version)

They do get hot on top. The light will grow anything and because of the intensity brings out a lot of color in stems with that potential. Getting the CO2 right will be important. Both times I used it I did get more algae in the startup than I would with other lights due to the intensity, but once things grow in, no more problems.

PS. love the photo of your tank in your avatar. would you mind posting up some photos in the Aquascaping showcase subforum?

That tank was done years ago.. I might have some pics floating around I'll see if I have enough quality photos to start a thread on that tank.

I was also looking to purchase these lights but for ~$160 I have a hard time when I can spend an extra $100 to get the real deal. I also heard about the legs giving out/bending after a few months of use.

That sounds a bit like Dr Google talking I would want more evidence than that.
