Ok tell me if I'm having an irrational thought. I'm thinking of taking all of the wilted Monte Carlo out of the tank and replacing it with HC Cuba. I could take some roots, from the already established HC Cuba, and split them to cover more area. While I'm at it I could reform the hill and make it look nicer, do what Keith mentioned and reinforce the hill with slate. If that doesn't solve my problem I could replace the big rock with a smaller rock.

All you can do is try and see what works best in your tank.

The scape would look better if the water level was lower. I made the 4dkh solution last night and it seems to be working fine.

A question for you why do you have the filter inlet at the front of the tank its very distracting.

Because of how shallow my tank is, there aren't many places to put my inflow. I have been planning on moving the pipe and putting a lily inflow pipe on, I just haven't done it yet lol.

Look up diy 4dkh solution on YouTube. It's pretty simple and 500ml of 4dkh is a lot.

Yes you need to add the 4 d KH solution to your drop checker with a few drops of bromothymol blue.

As far as my jumping fish problem. Its not a new problem with the same cause. I don't want to derail this thread, so I'll post about it in the relevant journal ;)

    Here's a a little update:
I trimmed a lot of the wilted plant away in the back left corner, and the plant underneath is starting to grow, and pearl. I cleaned the little bits of algae off the big rock on the left, and the glass.
I put a lily pipe inflow on, I got the one with the surface skimmer, and I like the way it operates with skimmer off, I'll have to find a way to put a screen of some sort over the top hole.

Once the plants settle in the small rock front RH side will be hidden.

Absolutely 100% wrong I often post that comment where I can see it can/will happen.

Added some red Ludwigia. I'm thinking that was a mistake lol, the leaves are way too broad IMO.

When the tank develops that area will stand out like a bright red traffic light in a green field. The shape and texture is OK its just the colour at the moment making you notice it more.

I kind of like the splash of red, but that's only because I'm odd lol.
Can anyone give me a suggestion for a plant for the back left of my tank?

So this past week I've been having trouble with algae and plants not growing. I figured out that my lily outflow pipe doesn't spread the water around vertically so the co2 that's diffused inline isn't reaching the plants at the bottom and causing major algae growth on EVERYTHING! I angled the lily pipe downward yesterday, I'll snap a picture towards the end of my light cycle today and post another picture.
I ended up cleaning the rocks as best as I could with a toothbrush, daily. I'll have to do it a few more times to really get the rocks clear of all of the green. Anyway here's a few pictures from last week...

I still need a few plant ideas for the back left corner.
