As the end of 2009 is draw closer, what are some of the most inspirational aquascapes you've seen or created yourself this year?

Obviously for me, I think all the aquascapes featured in our Aquascape of the Month Series are top notch, but I know there are many more!

Looking forward to what you guys feel are the Best Aquascapes of 2009.

Secret Life of Water Springs - by Octopus

I saw this 200 liter planted aquarium by Octopus, Secret Life of Water Springs, and immediately felt drawn to the mysterious design of the spring, and beautiful arrangements of plants surrounding it. For me this ranks among the best planted aquariums of 2009.

    Dancing Flames by Enrico Serena

Dancing Flames (150 liters) is one of those aquascapes you can find lost in for hours. I can only imagine what it would be like to see this aquascape in person. Wonderful selection of plants that give the aquarium height and depth, and a vibrant selection of tetras to add movement and life.

    East to West by Gourami

East to West (400 liters) received a 22nd ranking in the 2009 IALCP, and it is certainly easy to see why. The beautiful rolling hills and strong pointed rock formations are all embraced masterfully by lush mounds of Hemianthus callitrichoides. Fissidens fontanus mounds add that extra flare to blend it all together. To me, the patience required to grow out the Fissiden fontanus is to be commended. I know I couldn't wait a whole year, let alone two years (like Gourami did) of watching it grow into enough mass. Definitely one of my favorite aquascapes of 2009.

    Shayf,

As a newey, I wish I can be as imaginative. I like the contrasting colour with a lot of red plants. I had order some plants through my usual aquarium and it has been delayed for so many times. At last they say it will arrive by next Wednesday and I will try my amatuerism and show my works.

    Very impressive.

Cherry Barb Temple - by Maciek

I was blown away when I saw this 60p, entitled Cherry Barb Temple. Many try to create this type of layout but no quite do it as well as Maciek did. The dominate rock formation, encased in gentle wavy leaves of Echinodorus angustifolius and Eleocharis parvula just leaves a powerful visual impression for the viewer.
