Thank you all for what you've shared in this thread, and Ed, I find FUKADA'S scapes breathtaking!
They are amazing and breathtaking and there is an enormous amount of creative and horticultural talent involved in producing a scape like that, but...diorama scapes are not my cup of tea at all.
I struggle with the whole flooded terrestrial landscape movement which seems to be very prevalent amongst the top rated scapes in certain competitions especially IAPLC...it's an anathema to me
For me Amano's (https://www.youtube.com/user/aquadesignamano) more traditional Naturescape concept will never be beaten...
I must agree that Nature scape concept can not just push aside and i guess, still a practice but... with a modern touch.
however, the traditional way is no longer widely popular amongst aquascaper especially for those who join international
just my personal opinion.
Its then the contestants create an Aquascape for the judges its a good case for changing the judges for every contest.
even if the contest organizer changes the judges every now and then,
aquascaper idea is to create something that must please the contest jury to be noticed.
you are correct by saying "the contestants create an Aquascape for the judges" the reason
why the top notch scaper always create something that is not familiar or traditional or should
i say scape that you don't normally see.
How very true its not only Aquascaping contests that happens its done every where when Judging is involved. Its the same when writing a Uni paper find out what they want and do a paper that they want to read.
Hahaha, I just realized that I'm so eclectic, and appreciate something about nearly every scape I see, that the only scapes I have truly been unhappy beholding were my very own. Sheesh! I need to learn a lot!
Ikr @Wendy1B All of amano's scapes make me feel similarly!
Idk if he has been added already, but George Farmer is a great scaper!

These look like pictures from a fairytale. Stunning.
There are so many types of scapes and so many aquascapers but here are some of the most inspiring you can find on youtube.
Yoda with a forest scape done to perfection.
Amazing how he can create such a sense of space in a small tank.
Yoyo Prayoga with his IAPLC masterpiece.
Felipe Oliveira with one of the best low techs I've seen.
Anyone seen a cleaner nature aquarium?
Creator is Piotr Dymowski.
Thank you for posting those Aquascapes.
