I don't like the wall of rocks taking them out this weekend for the last time to re-aquascape.

1 question i have is it a must that I have 1.5 lbs of live rock per gallon this is what I was told way way way back when i started my salt water tank the first time at my LFS and some books. That is why I have all these rocks.

What epoxy or type of rods do you use to hold your structures?

    Any advice appreciated thank you.[IMG][IMG]

At the moment I think you are the only member doing a SW tank. I had one many years ago and every thing has changed since then.

At the moment all I can suggest try to locate an excellent Marine LFS or a Marine Aquarium club in your area.

Re glues I suggest you contact one of the glue manufacturers and get the correct advice directly from them.

I can help with design, but certainly would be no assistance in technical aspects. Like Keith mentioned...I don't know of other members doing saltwater although I'd wager there is some saltwater expertise to be found her.

One thing I would mention as you go about laying out your liverock and designing the space is to not underestimate the power of negative space and consider having more open areas instead of filling the tank completely full of live rock. Many of the best saltwater scapes I've seen utilize open areas, paths, islands, etc. in the rock work which create a more dynamic scape as well as improve water circulation.

I think many people use a reefing epoxy that can be purchased at a LFS or online from a place like www.marinedepot.com. I couldn't recommend a brand though.

With a marine reef tank water you must have an excellent water movement. If you have every seen coral reefs in the wild you will know exactly what I am referring to.

There is nothing wrong with a cliff face wall but it must be done perfectly, and using Corals etc as long as you get the balance and the water movement perfect.

    This might also help you

    Not a problem at all

    Smokey
    Asking Dr Google
    1lb - 1gl
    1lb - 2gl
    2-3lb - 1gl
    I prefer these two answers
    1. What every looks good

    2. You can have as much as you want, there is no such thing as to much live rock as long as there is swimming room and a nice flow over the rocks

Sounds like the so called rule is designed to see more live rock.

If a Marine Aquarium started telling you that type of sales pitch I would walk out and look for another Aquarium.

In the LFS defense it was over 10 years ago when I set it up for the first time. But I didn't return this time because I do belive they sold me alot of junk I didn't need. I'm letting the forums guide me this time around.

Many of us have had that type of experience with a LFS, even on the fresh side of things. It really is too bad that a great local shop is so hard to come by. Folks who have them do not know how lucky they are.

My Marine LFS meant a 150 klm return trip. There was a LFS that a few Marine tanks his biggest sales was the SW which he collected of the pier only minutes away. I collected mine of the Flinder's pier as its very close to the ocean it was always cleaner

Today is the day of specialist Forums and to keep on top they have to have a very good mix of members.

Have you made any progress on the rock arrangement for the Marine tank?
