Thanks for stopping by to take a look. :yo: I love the look of riparium's, and this is my haphazard version. It's a mix of true aquatic plants, a couple creeping plants, and some true terrestrial shade/part-sun plants in pots behind the tank. Inside of tank, how it looks now....overgrown :frusty: Tank before it became a jungle

strelitzia - Google Search= N_u5TvK4N8uQiQeGxJW_Bw The orange coloured plant could be an "Strelitzia" I have seen them growing in tropical Australia reaching close to 20ft tall. I have several growing in my garden Vic Aust and the flowers are over 8ft tall. The orchid looks it could be one of the dendrobium varieties? Keith
Those are absolutely beautiful...but what I have is Heliconia. A baby one. "The orchid looks it could be one of the dendrobium varieties?" - Thanks! I'm having trouble figuring out which one it is.
I used PVC pipe and had them painted and hung on to my old 55 gallon from back in.the.....1980's and 1990's........and used the hydrotron hydroponic media(clay fire balls basically, 3/8" dia) and dribbled water over these from a canister filter, basically a plant filter for tropical foliage. These can be DIY easily. I guess I should take pics and illustrate this as they do look quite nice, cost maybe 5-8$ each and can be painted to match. Nice tank and mops up any light spillage and window light hitting the tank also.
except for the orchids...i have all your terrestrial plants in garden:Happy: nice tank. you gave me an idearoud:
Beautiful, so nice and colorful! Do you get a lot of natural light coming in trough the window? Can we see a pic of the lights please?
It's enough light to light up my room but I'd say I get direct sunlight for 2-3 hours a day. They're all hung from the roof with screw in hooks. The 2 clamp lamps over my tank are 7" above the waterline, the other clamp lamp over the terrestrial plants is 17" above the waterline, and that desk clamp lamp (that I don't think really does much but lights up my desk at night 8) ) is 28" above the waterline.
Ooooo, please do. Haven't seen one of those yet but sounds better than having pots and drain pans behind a tank.
In my dream world, I'd have gotten another eheim 2213 or 2211 but money was tight at the time and I'm glad this ended up working well.
