Stunning fish poor FM missed out on all the brilliant blue.
here is a video of someone else's Apisto borelii breeding. I hope to have some similar results:
That is a very interesting Video, its fantastic to just watch their behaviour towards each other.
I've been a little absent lately. Between the busy holiday season and the release of the xbox one I've found myself with less time to devote here. I thought I would share some photos of water change day. The hose siphons water to the toilet in the nearby bathroom. Then the hose is refilled from a hook up in the garage. Water changes can go rather quickly if that is the only maintenance I end up doing. I usually wipe down the glass, take a toothbrush to the seams, remove any unhealthy leaves, maybe brush the hardscape a little. Refill, fertilize, and clean out the skimmer. Filter gets cleaned every 3 weeks.
Hi Shawn, Looking fab X box one Ho no we could lose you forever
Sounds like you have been very busy lately.
Looks like you have the water changes down to a very fine art.
That hose system you have is very basic and so simple yet it works so well for you.
Btw what is that hose thinking with the pvc pipe? is it a filter or used to fill up the tank?
The hose is what I use to drain and refill the tank, a nice easy DIY attachment.
Looks like I have a lot to learn
Yes and this is the place to do it.
rescaped this week. It was getting to be a bit of a jungle and the moss was invading the HC badly. Swapped out for an easier to manage foreground. Some plantings were moved around as well since some of the stems were getting shaded out by others. Driftwood rearranged, etc. I'll post some updates this coming weekend.
I've lost one of the A. borelli males. Feeding apistos adequately is a challenge with so many fast hungry small fish and shrimp. Apistos graze and often don't find the food before someone else does. Add to that the territorial behavior and I ended up with one pushed out and not getting food. Lovely fish, sad to have lost him.
Hi Shawn,Sorry to hear about the fish loss Looking forward to seeing your rescape
Belem grass would be a good replacement.
I ended up using the E. belem and the monte carlo from the 30cm tank as the foreground. They mixed nicely but it was too big for a 30 cm tank. I'm going to post up the remaining sod for sale. It was really thick and healthy. Hope to see the same thing here.
Belem is in the right edge that fades to the back then should mix in a bit with the monte carlo on the open side.
Sounds like the tank got a bit neglected, it happened to me not that far back when my health was not the best.
Its good to hear you have it under control now.
Dont forget the "Updated" photos.
the new rescape after 2 weeks. The stems need some time to fill in the back.
That is a very beautiful looking well planted tank you must be very pleased with the result.
Hi Shawn, Superb
