hello there... sorry just found out you left me a message...
i didnt grow the HC emerse... i dont find growing HC is difficult... its rather very easy and filter is totally not relevant...
they key is soil and enough light... i use ADA amazonia and amazonia 2... they both are great... and the light, u need at least medium or high light... i have 1.8wpg lighting for my 45cm tank, HC is growing really slow... water temperature is 24 in my 2ft tank and 19-20 for my 45cm tank... i dont dose excel at all for my 45cm tank as i have CRS inside... i do dose some ferts like flourish, trace, potassium and iron... but i under dose all of them like 1/4-1/2 of the actual dose...
