      Dear Carloina,

As a newbie I need some advice on trimming. Riccia and java mosses in particular. I have a mixture of my own high fired pottery wafers and flat slate stones from our canyons. Do you take them out of the tank to trim them or are you leaving them on top of the substrate and trimming them in the tank??? I know that some plants must be trimmed under water but some of these ground covers (java and riccia) are not looking so good due to my inexperience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...even if I have to redesign my tanks...lol...best wishes---RAndy a.k.a. squidboy
