Hey guys,

Now that the stand is done I'm looking into lighting. It will be a heavily planted tank and I will be using a Co2 system on it. Most of the plants I will be incorporating do require high lighting.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

What could help the plant experts a list of plants you intend to have plus, your budget as there are some very good lighting units but quality costs.

Here is a list of the plants that I intend to use Keith. I don't really want to spend ADA type of money on a light lol. but I don't want to cheap out. so whatever you recommend I would seriously consider.
any opinion on those kessil freshwater lights ?

I have four kessil 160 on my 500l tank, I think there over priced for a one year warrenty. George does then to have his kessil 360 set on pretty low intensities also. Had the RMA two of mine:mad: I would consider a NEW CHIHIROS A-SERIES PLUS AQUATIC AQUARIUM SUPER LED LAMP if you want the Reds to pop out a CHIHIROS RGB-SERIES AQUATIC AQUARIUM COLORFUL LED LAMP
Would cost a fraction of the price with multiple chihiros smaller units a
TC420 or three you would have complete control over the lights intensity, you would need a custom mounting OFC you would need some DIY. I would go for the A451 and get multiple units as the TC420 is limited to 4amps per channel, but will save many bucks.

Plus the Kessil controller only has twin zones for £100 for that price you could buy four to five TC420 and have many lighting zones

That is certainly a big list of plants you are intending to buy.

I think it's time to draw up a full planting plan and get the plant experts to assist where necessary.

Now it has come to quality, cost and your decision.

There is a move to LEDs obviously cheaper to run and more and more products coming out and price reflects this ADA and Kessl for example but equally for more demanding plants CO2,flow ,fertilisers are important the priority according tho everything I read and learn. So T5 would be good option too .Tubes in the daylight spectrum by good company’s ,Arcadia for example give a nice rendition.I do think a lot of people got rid of T8s too early.Zeus pointer to Chihiros and the Fluval range seem reasonably priced
