This is my first time using ferts and I have a question. Whats the best way to use ferts? Should I pour it into the water or inject it into the substrate? Im using flourish if that helps. The tank is a 10 gallon with 4wpg and CO2.

For liquid ferts measure out the amount to use and pour into the water in a high flow area. The only ferts to put into the substrate is the fert tabs that you just push deep into the substrate.

I'm sure that is something that has been done, but I'm just not fimiliar with the process or see how it would be benificial. But I would be interested on knowing more about it. Maybe someone else will chime in that is fimiliar with it.

Any rosette type plant like Hc, Glosso, Crypts, Swords and any other plant that send out runners feed mainly from there roots. Most stem plants can feed systemically via the surface of their leaves as well as there roots. If you use root tabs make sure to get ones with the highest concentration of iron.
I think Iron tabs are the best in maintaining a certain amount of iron in the tank rather than the liquid form which oxidizes quickly. Injecting your liquid ferts into the substrate would be a great way to fertilize your plants but not entirely necessary. |

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm interested in knowig... how do you get a liquid fert to stay in the substrate once injected in? I mean would it not just leach out into the water column?
