GEX soil is for person who want clear water but can wait for slow growing plant. The soil has not much nutient. Hobbyist who want to set up tank but dont want to have problem with algae ( and can wait for their plants to grow slowly) should consider this brand. Gex should be used with undersubstrate fertilizer(normally most aquascaping set up use this fertilizer so there s no different). This soil grain also harder than ADA. Some hobbyists i knew used Gex on top of ADA soil.

We asians are lucky that we have access to GEX soil. Its very common down here, found in almost every LFS. It is mainly used as a cheaper alternative to ADA, so far, everyone I have talked to is happy with it.
