Default Aquatic Planting Media

I'm new to this hobby so not sure if this substrate is good start for a newly planted tank. Have anyone try this? Any input would be highly appreciated.

I see from the bag that this product contains Zeolite, which will absorb certain substances from your aquarium water. Although Zeolite will effectively absorb ammonia, it has been known to release it back into the water without warning. I would therefore not advise the use of this substrate in an aquarium

There is another type of substrate that is similar to the product you have shown. It is called Schultz aquatic soil. I seen many tanks that have plants growing nicely with this substrate.
