Yeah, i think it would be. Plus, aesthetically it might not work out really well, as the laterite would most likely work its way to the surface at some point; AS is pretty light and easily disturbed, so I'd stick to just AS...and, I thought I might mention that AS Amazonia and Amazonia II have different effects on water chemistry...check 'em out here ADA Substrate System

I talked to an Eco-Complete rep, and he said he would replace the bags with the "good" stuff..

He explained that a bad batch went out, and that Big Al's, for one, had no business keeping that stuff on the shelves..

So this is good news, and I'll let you all know if and how they actually do go about replacing the bags.

Yup, it's a shame they didn't get the tip off that that's NOT what the Eco-complete people know and love is supposed to look like!

Just an update..

I have heard back from the CaribSea rep, and he is sending the good stuff to me, 5 bags, from their warehouse..

He said it should be here soon.. I'll let you guys know, and take pics of what it's supposed to look like!

Nice to hear you're getting what you paid for!! Any more progress on the tank, or has this eco-complete debacle slowed things down?

I still have my trip to go on in June, for 6 weeks, and I set up my tank when I get back.

Good thing I found out I had a bad batch NOW..
