Breeding Amano shrimp?

Does anyone have any expereince breeding these shrimp as I have a few and would like to try and breed them. The only thing I have found on breeding them is you need salt water to keep the larva alive for more than 2 weeks.

There's a pretty good article on it in The Aquatic Gardener. I'm not sure what issue it is, but it had a lot of good info. From what I've herd, Amano's are actually being commercially bred in America now, as well as RCS. So maybe the price will drop a little lower soon.

IMO, it's too troublesome to breed these guys.

I've read somewhere else that PetSmart is trying to clear these guys out at ~$1 per shrimp. Might want to stock up on them...I know I am!

The petsmart here just started carring them and are asking $4 each for them.

Breeding them requires removing them from the parents tank, then keeping them in different degrees of brackish water as they develop, then bringing them gradually back to fresh water again. It can be done, but it requires a lot of time and having saltwater supplies like a refractometer on hand, so it would definitely be cheaper to buy them, unless you're looking for the challenge of breeding them.

There is a German site I am a member of where someone is breeding them. They say they move them from the different types of water with no acclimation, and no deaths.

I tried in the past and failed also. I now have several berried female Amano shrimp and currently have one spawn in salt water. Hopefully my next few attempts will go better than my previous attempt.
